Chapter 405 - 405: 405: I deserve to die!
After returning to the Black residence, the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, there really wasn't anything particularly important left for the rest of the holidays. What remained was simply... enjoying life.
It was undeniably pleasant.
Moreover, with the Ministry's Aurors now maintaining much tighter control over wizarding gathering points, the Black residence, which housed three wizarding families and a large number of scattered wizards, naturally became one of these strongholds and received regular Auror patrol protection.
In addition, the idle Longbottom family and the Weasleys often spent time around Grimmauld Place... oh, and Grindelwald would also frequently buy a Muggle newspaper and sit on a bench in the square, basking in the sun for half the day.
It wasn't until nearly a week into the holidays that the little wizards confined inside the Black residence finally saw daylight again. Although their range of activity was still limited to Grimmauld Place, which was neither particularly small nor especially large.
Compared to being trapped inside the Black residence itself, however, this was already a huge improvement.
Meanwhile...
Kasenhis had no interest in sunbathing or taking leisurely strolls. At this moment, he was inside the Weasley twins' shop, studying their wildly imaginative renovation blueprints and making calculations.
It wasn't that Kasenhis lacked ability. He was simply curious how the two of them had managed to draw such bizarre designs without the aid of Cheering Potions, strange chemical concoctions, or even weird herbs inside the Black residence.
"This is beyond the imagination of three-dimensional humans," Kasenhis remarked while looking at the blueprints.
"Well, Professor? Can it be done?" the Weasley twins asked eagerly after hearing such fantastical praise.
"Done? Of course it can be done. I'm your professor, after all. If the two of you can draw it on paper, there's no reason I can't build it in reality," Kasenhis declared proudly.
"Then should we help you... oh, Professor, you don't need building mater...ials..."
"Sss..."
"Then... is there anything we can help with?" the twins asked awkwardly.
"Go buy lunch for me... and close the door behind you," Kasenhis said succinctly.
"No problem, Professor."
Once the twins left the shop, Kasenhis began the renovation.
Most of the existing furnishings were made of wood and fabric, so...
Kasenhis slowly took out a flint and steel and casually touched it against the wallpaper. The fragment of flint and the iron ring floating nearby struck each other, and a perfectly square one-by-one-metre pixelated flame ignited on the wall.
"If it's just decorating and not fighting, I still find these old-fashioned tools easier to use," Kasenhis sighed as he put away the flint and steel before walking out of the shop.
Pixelated flames might not release toxic gases, but who would want to stay inside such a hot room?
And so the Weasley twins returned to find Kasenhis standing outside with his hands in his pockets, looking thoroughly cool while calmly watching the raging inferno inside the shop.
The mountain of food they'd bought for him nearly slipped from their hands. Their reactions were quick enough that they managed to catch the bags again before they hit the ground.
"Do you think the Professor found out about our secret stash, got angry and unhappy, and burned down the shop to teach us a lesson?" George whispered.
"Very likely. Next time we build up a secret stash, we should offer a share to the Professor first. Whether he needs it is one thing, but whether we give it is another..." Fred agreed solemnly.
"What are you two standing there staring at? Hand me the food, I'm getting hungry." Hearing the noise, Kasenhis turned around and spotted the twins standing dumbfounded in the distance watching him commit arson. He stretched out a hand.
"O-oh, right, coming!" The Weasley twins snapped out of it and hurriedly handed over the bags of food before simultaneously taking a step back.
They had already decided to confess.
...They had merely skimmed a little off their private stash, and Professor Kasenhis had burned down the shop. If the two of them ever pulled off something truly outrageous in the future, wouldn't Professor Kasenhis set the Burrow on fire?
As for why the usually gentle Professor Kasenhis was so irritable today...
Perhaps it was a midlife crisis.
Professor Kasenhis was already approaching thirty...
Wait...
He had already reached thirty...
Apologise! They absolutely had to apologise!
How had the two of them not thought this through? Those golden templates had all been created by Professor Kasenhis himself. How could he possibly not sense them?
As for why they weren't angry about him setting the place on fire...
He was their provider, after all. Eighty percent of their private stash had leaked out from between his fingers in the first place. And from the looks of it, he had merely set things on fire without any further intentions. What more could they ask for?
It was just a shop. If it burned, it burned.
And even if the Professor really intended to reclaim all that gold...
It wasn't as though they had only skimmed off the top that one time. Ever since Kasenhis began teaching at Hogwarts, whenever gold, jewels, or even mithril were involved, the two of them had always had a hand in it.
Besides, they understood perfectly well that eggs shouldn't all be placed in one basket. If Gringotts in England got shut down, they still had Gringotts in Egypt. Surely that one wouldn't...
Eh?
Why had the fire stopped?
Could it be that the Professor wasn't satisfied with ordinary flames and was planning to use TNT instead?
While the twins were busy conducting a storm of thoughts, Kasenhis had already wolfed down the Muggle hamburger meal they had bought in a few bites and strode directly into the shop.
The two exchanged a glance and, with perfect tacit understanding, each cast an Iron Armour Charm on the other, making sure they wouldn't be blown to pieces by berserk TNT or End Crystals...
Then they saw that the entire shop had been burned clean by the pixelated flames, leaving only the bare shell behind.
And Professor Kasenhis, with spruce planks appearing in his hand, had already started laying down the flooring.
The Weasley twins inhaled sharply and exchanged another look.
Professor Kasenhis had merely used fire to efficiently remove the previous decorations.
What had he done wrong?
Why had they used such narrow-minded and sinful thoughts to judge him?
...I really deserve to die! ×2
