Chapter 313 Hidden Things
Chapter 313 Hidden Things
"But you all look very unhappy?" Mengmeng tilted her head back, her big eyes staring straight at Ruolan.
They didn't actually argue, but they did have things they didn't tell her.
Facing her bright, focused gaze, Ruolan looked away somewhat guiltily. "The water's boiling."
Seeing that Ruolan was unwilling to face her directly, Mengmeng had no choice but to ask Gu Yinshen.
"Dad~"
"Eh."
Gu Yinshen reached out and caught Mengmeng, who had jumped up and sat down next to him.
A soft little hand landed on her arm, and Mengmeng asked earnestly, "Daddy, did you really not argue with Mommy?"
"Of course." Gu Yinshen smiled and stroked her hair.
If Tian Tian were half as sensible as Meng Meng, how could they say that they were sitting on the living room sofa in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?
Ruolan brought over a water glass. "Mengmeng, come and have some water."
"Okay, Mom." Mengmeng replied, quickly moving from Gu Yinshen's side to Ruolan's side.
While taking small sips of the hot water in her cup, Mengmeng's eyes darted around, observing the relationship between Gu Yinshen and Ruilan.
"Aren't you going to drink it?" Ruolan asked, noticing that the glass was still more than half full.
Mengmeng nodded, "Mom and Dad, aren't you going back to your room to rest?"
It's almost midnight, and if I don't rest now, the next day will be here.
Ruolan was still worried about Tiantian at the police station. She coaxed Mengmeng, saying, "Mom and Dad aren't too sleepy yet. Mengmeng, go back to your room and rest. You have school tomorrow."
"Why aren't Mom and Dad sleepy?" At this moment, Mengmeng was like a walking encyclopedia of questions, with countless questions in her mind.
Just as Ruolan was wondering how to answer her question, she heard a cell phone ringing from the coffee table.
"Was that the other party calling?" Ruolan rushed to Gu Yinshen's side, her eyes anxiously fixed on the phone screen.
Just moments ago, Mengmeng was wondering if they had really argued, but now she was certain that they did have something they didn't want her to know.
She silently walked up the stairs, no longer pressing for answers. After all, she knew that adults had many things they wouldn't tell, meaning it was something children shouldn't know.
Back in her room, Mengmeng looked at Xiaobai sitting on the bed with a dignified expression.
"Little White, why aren't you sleeping?"
"also?"
Xiao Bai watched as Mengmeng sat down on the bedside, then asked curiously, "Is anyone else not sleeping?"
"Mom and Dad. I don't know what happened to them, they're still sitting on the sofa in the living room," Mengmeng said sadly.
She knew she shouldn't pry into their affairs out of curiosity, but she also wanted to know what had happened to them, hoping she could help.
Little White placed its paw on Mengmeng's thigh and gently pressed it, pulling her back to her senses. "What could possibly be about Sweetie?"
"You mean Sister Tiantian?" Mengmeng asked in shock. "What happened to her?"
“She’s out right now, not at home,” Xiaobai said. “They’re probably worried about how to find Tiantian.”
"Xiaobai, how do you know all this?" Mengmeng asked, resting her chin on her hand with a curious expression.
Xiao Bai feigned suspense and coughed twice, "Ahem, don't you even look at my ears? They're several times better than yours."
Mengmeng looked at Xiaobai suspiciously, and immediately saw something amiss from its expression. "Did you go downstairs to eavesdrop?"
Upon hearing this, Xiaobai immediately jumped out of bed, "Hmph, I'm never telling you again!"
After saying that, it wiggled its rear and walked out.
"Xiaobai, where are you going?" Mengmeng turned around and looked at Xiaobai, who had already left the house.
Once the door was closed, it completely concealed Xiaobai's figure.
As Mengmeng lay in bed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling above her head, the scene of her conversation with Gu Yinshen and Ruolan downstairs involuntarily floated into her mind.
If Sweetie isn't home, why don't Mom and Dad ask her for help? Her little butterfly can track Sweetie's location!
Suddenly sitting up in bed, Mengmeng rushed downstairs to tell Gu Yinshen and Ruolan that she had found Tiantian.
Halfway there, I heard the sound of a car starting up coming from inside the courtyard.
Have Mom and Dad already left?
Mengmeng was anxious to catch up, but her foot slipped and she tumbled down the stairs.
Bang~
The loud noise echoed throughout the first floor, and Aunt Xue and Aunt Ping, who were sleeping in the bedroom next to the stairs, immediately came out to check.
"Oh!" Aunt Xue exclaimed, and rushed over to help Mengmeng, who was lying on the ground.
"Don't move her yet!" Aunt Ping said, squatting down to ask, "Mengmeng, can you move your arm?"
The person was face down, and their cheeks were not injured because their hands were supporting them in front of them.
Mengmeng struggled to lift her head, "My wrist hurts a little."
With their wrists twisted in the opposite direction, Aunt Ping and Aunt Xue reached out together to support Mengmeng's belly.
She was small and light. With a little effort, the two of them lifted Mengmeng off the ground. Her arms remained in one position as she was moved to the sofa.
"It looks quite serious; you need to go to the hospital."
"I'll apply some liniment to her first."
"No, don't move it and cause further injury."
Aunt Ping and Aunt Xue were discussing Mengmeng's injuries when they noticed that Mengmeng's posture had changed from lying down to sitting up.
"Mengmeng?"
The two of them looked at Mengmeng with surprise.
“Aunt Ping, Aunt Xue, Mengmeng doesn’t need to go to the hospital. Don’t worry, Mengmeng’s injury will heal soon.” Mengmeng said, touching the butterfly mark on her wrist with her fingers.
No butterflies appeared, but the hand that had been twisting was now relaxed.
"All better?" Aunt Ping leaned closer and carefully touched Mengmeng's wrist with her finger. "It really is better!"
Aunt Xue found it amazing and reached out to touch it as well.
"Mengmeng just said that everything will be fine soon." Mengmeng smiled and twisted her wrist back and forth.
Although the physical injuries healed quickly, what happened just now was too dangerous. If the face had landed directly on the ground and the eyes had been injured, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Aunt Xue sat down next to Mengmeng and gently massaged her wrist. "Mengmeng, remember, you must not rush when you go downstairs. We'll take it slow."
"Yes, we could hear the sound of it falling in the room. It must have hurt so much!" Aunt Ping still feels a chill when she thinks about it now.
If it were Tian Tian, she would probably be crying so hard that all the neighbors could hear her.
"Aunt Ping, Aunt Xue, could you please not tell Mom, Dad, my brother, uncles, and aunts about how I fell?" Mengmeng asked pitifully, clutching her fingers.
Aunt Xue glanced at Aunt Ping, who then said, "Even if we don't say anything, the master and madam will find out when they see the surveillance footage. Miss Mengmeng, don't worry, even if the master and madam find out, they won't blame you."
