The Legend of the Medical Concubine

Chapter 329: Rescue in Dilemma

Chapter 329: Rescue in Dilemma

The afterglow of the setting sun struggled to penetrate the narrow and grimy window gaps of the mountain stronghold and sprinkled into the dim large room, but it could not dispel the depression and tension that filled the room. Lin Ruoxue and Xiaoxuan were pushed into this room filled with a mixed smell of blood and sweat by the bandit leader like driving livestock.

The bandit leader crossed his arms across his chest with veins bulging on his muscular arms. His ferocious eyes were like a hungry wolf staring at its prey. He stared at Lin Ruoxue and Xiaoxuan and shouted, "You two, hurry up and heal my brothers' injuries. If you can't, you'll be in trouble." His rough and hoarse voice echoed in the room, like a roar from hell.

Although Lin Ruoxue was filled with fear, she knew that panicking would be useless. She raised her head slightly, looked at the bandit leader with a firm and calm gaze, and tried to keep her voice steady: "We will do our best, but there are a lot of injured people, I need someone to help me, and I need you to go down the mountain to buy some herbs. I'll make a list for you, you can buy them." As she spoke, she quickly thought about the countermeasures in her mind, and her eyes inadvertently swept around the room, looking for a possible breakthrough.

The bandit leader frowned, and the wrinkles on his forehead were as deep as if carved by a knife. He snorted coldly: "As long as you are obedient, I will not make things difficult for you. But if you dare to play any tricks, don't even think about leaving here alive." As he spoke, he drew the sword from his waist and tested the sharpness of the blade with his rough thumb. The cold light flickered in the dim room, making people terrified.

Lin Ruoxue took a deep breath, calmed herself, and walked towards the nearest injured bandit. Her hands were trembling slightly, but she soon stabilized them with years of experience. Xiaoxuan followed timidly behind, her eyes full of fear, but seeing her master's calmness, she also mustered a little courage.

"Xiaoxuan, hand me this cloth and go get some water." Lin Ruoxue said softly. Although her voice was soft, it was full of unquestionable majesty. Xiaoxuan nodded quickly and turned to find water and cloth.

Lin Ruoxue began to carefully examine the wounded, her brows slightly furrowed, secretly thinking about the treatment method in her mind. Every move was cautious, as if she was fighting a life-and-death battle. The injured bandits in the room were either groaning in pain or cursing in a low voice. The atmosphere was so oppressive that it made people breathless.

"Master, the water is here." Xiaoxuan walked over hurriedly, holding a basin of water. The water was swaying in the basin and splashing a lot onto the ground.

"Be careful." Lin Ruoxue said softly, taking the water and starting to clean the wound. The injured man screamed like a pig being slaughtered because of the pain, and Xiaoxuan was so scared that she almost threw the basin away.

"Don't be afraid, Xiaoxuan. You've done a great job." Lin Ruoxue comforted her, but her hands did not stop moving. While cleaning the wounds, she silently recited the formulas and effects of various herbs in her mind, thinking about what other herbs were needed to better treat the wounded.

The bandit leader paced impatiently, glaring at Lin Ruoxue and Xiaoxuan from time to time. "Hurry up! If anything happens to my brother, you'll be dead!" His roar echoed in the room, making the already tense atmosphere even more solemn.

Lin Ruoxue ignored his roar and focused on the treatment. Her forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat, and the clothes on her back were also soaked with sweat, but her eyes remained firm. Xiaoxuan tried hard to assist, handing tools and wiping sweat. Although she was full of fear in her heart, she gritted her teeth and persisted for her master.

As time went by, Lin Ruoxue treated some of the more serious wounds with her superb medical skills. The groans of the wounded gradually weakened, and the tense atmosphere in the room eased a little. However, Lin Ruoxue knew that the real crisis was far from over, and she had to stay alert at all times and look for opportunities to escape. Her eyes quietly wandered over the bandits, and she kept thinking about the next plan in her mind.
