I won't bother you anymore after Chapter 137.
I won't bother you anymore after Chapter 137.
"In high school, many people called me 'Cow.' Whether it was boys or girls, people would talk about me. They not only made disgusting jokes, but some even spread rumors about me... I was very self-conscious during that time. I walked with my head down and felt that no matter what clothes I wore, they were wrong."
"But you were never like them. I remember once, the boys in the back row started making trouble again, and you turned around and warned them. You may have forgotten it yourself, but I almost cried at the time."
"You're always so cheerful, it seems like you never have any worries. You made me feel that I don't have to be ashamed of this innate quality. I started to try to hold my head high and try not to care about other people's opinions. I tried to become better, studied hard, and learned to dress well... A large part of my motivation was because I wanted you to see a better version of me."
"So, Yu Heng, I like you. It's not just out of gratitude; it's because I'm a better person now, and I want to tell you that I want to be with you. I'm no longer that timid, insecure girl who only walks with her head down. I want to be by your side, accompany you to class, eat with you, and do everything you want to do, whether it's joining clubs or doing anything whimsical. I want to be your girlfriend, okay?"
She finally blurted it all out, blurting it all out at once.
Yu Heng fell silent, clicking his tongue inwardly. It had finally come.
He looked into her eyes. This feeling of being stared at with such high expectations was actually a bit troublesome and stressful.
He licked his lips, his voice lower than usual: "Yutong, I know you like me."
Ning Yutong gave a soft "hmm" and waited for him to continue.
"I like you too," Yu Heng said. "You're wonderful, you could even be considered my ideal girlfriend."
That's the truth. Ning Yutong is beautiful, has a great figure, and a great personality. He has no reason not to like her.
"I don't really want to refuse you," Yu Heng continued, "but I have no choice but to refuse you."
"Why?" Ning Yutong's voice was a little urgent, and she took a small step forward. "Is it because of Yue Ling? Are you two already together?"
"No," Yu Heng shook his head, "it's just that I don't want to be in a relationship."
Ning Yutong was taken aback: "Don't you want to be in a relationship?"
"Yes." Yu Heng looked at her. "What I'm saying might sound absurd to you, but I really don't want to be tied down to anyone because of a romantic relationship. It won't be because of you, or because of Yue Ling."
Ning Yutong's brows furrowed slowly; she didn't quite understand: "What do you mean... not being confined to one person?"
Yu Heng took a breath. Since things had come to this point, he might as well be frank: "I think there can be many women in my life."
Ning Yutong's eyes widened slightly. So many women?
Her lips moved, her voice a little dry: "Like Zhang Yuchen?"
"No, it's different." Yu Heng paused and said, "I won't hide anything. I will make sure that each of my women is aware of each other's situation, on the premise that they are willingly accepting it."
Ning Yutong was stunned; her mind was a jumbled mess.
Many women? All aware of each other? Voluntarily accepted?
"So," Yu Heng continued, "I don't know if you'll accept this situation, so I have to refuse you for now."
Ning Yutong stood there for a long time without saying a word.
A night breeze blew by, and she shivered. Only then did she realize that she had been holding her breath the whole time.
She slowly loosened her grip on the coat; so that's how it is.
It's not that she's not good enough, nor that Shen Yueling took the spot first.
Yu Heng had no intention of dating anyone. He didn't just want a girlfriend, but he wanted more than one.
"I understand." Ning Yutong raised her head, her face expressionless and her voice calm. "Then I won't bother you anymore."
She spoke so frankly, which surprised Yu Heng a little.
He thought she would at least ask more questions, or scold him a couple of times.
After Ning Yutong finished speaking, she turned to leave.
"Yutong," Yu Heng called out to her.
Ning Yutong stopped in her tracks but didn't turn around.
"The watch and scarf," Yu Heng gestured, "thank you. I really like them."
Ning Yutong, with her back to him, nodded slightly and then walked away quickly.
The sound of footsteps faded into the distance on the stone path, finally disappearing around the corner.
Yu Heng stood there, lit a cigarette, and didn't chase after them; there was no point in doing so.
He took a sip and slowly exhaled.
Yu Heng turned his head to look and found that it was actually He Mengyao.
She leaned against a lamppost not far away, her hands in her coat pockets, and stood there for who knows how long.
"What are you doing here?" Yu Heng asked, frowning.
"Hehe, I came with you," He Mengyao said, stepping out of the shadows, the streetlight illuminating her face.
"Why are you following me?"
"You're singing Jay Chou's songs? Aren't you afraid that he's already written them, but they haven't been released yet?" He Mengyao looked at him with a cryptic smile.
Yu Heng's heart skipped a beat as he stared into He Mengyao's eyes.
"How did you know?" Yu Heng was taken aback, then his eyes widened. "He Mengyao, you were reborn too?"
He Mengyao didn't speak, she just looked at him, and the smile on her lips slowly disappeared.
"When did you get back?" Yu Heng asked.
"September 26th?" He Mengyao walked up to him, the two of them less than a meter apart.
"How did you get here?" Yu Heng asked, squinting.
"I just got home when I got a call saying you were in a car accident. By the time I got to the hospital, you were already gone," He Mengyao said, frowning as she came to her senses. "I was distracted while I was handling the paperwork for you and ran a red light."
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself lying on her dormitory bed, and that her pillow was wet.
When she arrived at the hospital, she saw Yu Heng lying there motionless, and no matter how she called her husband, Yu Heng did not respond.
The doctor came and said there were no signs of life, and she was stunned.
As she drove out of the hospital, she cried as she drove, not even noticing when the light turned red.
After being reborn, she kept an eye on Yu Heng. On the playground, Yu Heng and the others came over to ask for her WeChat, and she discovered that this time it was Hao Junran who asked for her WeChat.
She refused without even thinking, not wanting Yu Heng to misunderstand her as the kind of girl who would give out her WeChat to just anyone.
She ran into him again at the supermarket later, during her magical period. He came over to care for her, and her heart fluttered again.
In her past life, Yu Heng treated her quite well. It was just that after she stopped working, she felt restless and irritable staying at home every day. That day, she was in a fit of anger, which led to the divorce.
Now she thought that she had the experience of a lifetime, so she should be able to control the course of things this time.
But she noticed that Yu Heng seemed different from before. He had never been involved in any gangs or similar activities before, and it seemed like he had quite a few women around him.
This made her a little angry, even though she had been thinking of staying with him!
