Chapter 124 The Treatment Begins
Chapter 124 The Treatment Begins
The person who had been quietly waiting beside Leshan stepped forward when the three had finished their discussion. "Captain Leshan, if there are no problems, let's set off. The people are already waiting."
"Hmm." Leshan nodded, abandoning the joking tone he used when he was talking to Lezhi.
Having received permission to depart, the Windwalker, whose name had not yet been revealed, turned and led the way. Leshan and Lezhi exchanged a glance and then quickly followed.
It was already evening, and the sun had almost disappeared below the horizon, leaving only half the sky with its colorful sunset. The guide spoke very little, focusing only on walking. He led Lezhi and his group through the area around the main square used for receiving guests, and into the densely forested center of their clan's territory.
Perhaps having been specifically instructed, the person did not use wings to travel like the Windwalker Clan members that Lezhi had seen before, but instead steadily measured the various densely packed paths with their footsteps.
Lezhi, who already had a poor sense of direction, was led up and down, left and right, and quickly gave up on trying to remember the way. No wonder Qinglin had arranged for someone to pick her up; with roads like this, a newcomer simply couldn't figure it out.
Silently complaining to himself, Lezhi didn't reflect on his terrible sense of direction at all, but instead blamed the complicated road conditions in the Windwalker Clan's territory.
"They're coming."
Because he hadn't been thinking clearly for the second half of the journey, Lezhi was mostly in a daze. Suddenly, someone who had been waiting ahead seemed to have spotted Lezhi and his group and called out loudly, which brought Lezhi back to his senses.
Looking closely, Lezhi realized that they were no longer on the ground, but on a building suspended in mid-air. Although the path under their feet was stable, they could see that it was made of intertwined vines suspended in the air when they reached the edge of the path.
"Captain, the person has been brought here." The taciturn guide stopped first in front of the person who came out of the house and reported.
The figure of the newcomer was blocked by the Windwalker Clan members and Leshan's tall back in front of him, and Lezhi, who was not tall, could only hear the person's voice.
A clear, crisp female voice rang out, its tone decisive and crisp, like a block of ice with sharp edges: "Thank you for your hard work."
"Qingjin, you're here too." Leshan recognized the person who came and greeted him first.
"Yes, this is such a big matter. Even if the clan leader didn't ask me to come and see what's going on."
Although he was talking to Leshan, the person called Qingjin had eyes as calm as a still well and was very composed.
It was obvious that Leshan had dealt with Qingjin before. He didn't care about Qingjin's slightly cold attitude at all. Instead, he stepped aside and introduced Lezhi behind him.
"Lezhi, this is Qingjin, the captain of the Windwalker Clan's guard team and the holder of the best record in our Three Clans Hunting Tournament. Qingjin, this is our clan's little one this year, Lezhi."
"Hello, Captain Qingjin." After a soft greeting, Lezhi gave a restrained smile and said nothing more.
Looking at Lezhi, a cub whose cheeks still held a hint of childishness, Qingjin's calm eyes remained seemingly unmoved. When Lezhi greeted her, Qingjin nodded slightly and hummed in response.
Qingjin immediately spoke up, "Alright, don't waste time, come with me."
After saying that, Qing Jin immediately turned around and gestured to Le Shan and the others to follow. Before leaving, she glanced at Lei Xiu, who was standing to the side like a statue, and then quickly turned her head away, seemingly completely uninterested in Lei Xiu, a living person.
Because Qingjin's actions were too decisive, Lezhi was stunned for a moment and did not react immediately. Instead, she looked up at Leshan.
Receiving the little one's gaze, Leshan smiled and said, "Don't worry, Qingjin is much more reliable and easier to deal with than Qinglin. She's just aloof; it's not directed at you." In fact, the fact that Qingjin was willing to respond to Lezhi already spoke volumes.
Otherwise, given her personality and how she treats people and things she doesn't care about—for example, her attitude towards Lei Xiu—she basically ignores him.
"Yes, I know, I also really like Captain Qingjin."
Lezhi, who relies on intuition to discern good from evil in others, did not detect any rejection from Qingjin. In fact, Lezhi could vaguely sense that Qingjin probably liked him very much, but it was not very obvious.
Surprised by Lezhi's keen insight, Leshan raised an eyebrow and remained silent, partly because they had already followed Qingjin into the room.
This was a suite, containing a bed and some cabinets. When Lezhi and the others entered, there was only a patient lying on the bed, with Qinglin by his side.
Because the suite wasn't very big, and Lezhi hadn't tried to hold back her words, almost everyone present heard them. Qingjin herself gave an almost imperceptible smile, which people who weren't very familiar with her wouldn't even notice.
However, Qinglin happened to be there. He and Qingjin had grown up together and were very familiar with Qingjin's various expressions, so he could tell at a glance that she was in a good mood.
Ha, how could it not be good? Such an adorable little brat, not only wasn't scared away by her cold face, but also so generously said he liked her. Qinglin was a little indignant; the little brat had never said he liked her before.
"Oh, it seems our cub is quite bold." Qinglin teased with a smile, just to ease the atmosphere. Then he immediately became serious. "Alright, Lezhi, this is the one in our clan who has been suffering from the Shadow Disease for the longest time and is also the one most severely affected. Please take a look."
Ignoring the lingering embarrassment from the teasing, Lezhi was immediately drawn to the pale-faced patient on the bed. He was a tall man, no less imposing than Qinglin, but due to the erosion of the Shadow Disease, his complexion was noticeably sickly, and his limbs were somewhat thin.
"Hello, my name is Aoki."
The man's expression didn't change much when he saw Lezhi's appearance as a cub; instead, he introduced himself in a gentle voice.
Nodding in response, Lezhi remained unusually silent, her attention not on socializing at the moment. The shadowy aura emanating from Aoki was even stronger than that from Lezhong back then.
Le Zhi could only sense Le Zhong when he was having an attack, but even when Aoki was just sitting there, Le Zhi could easily detect the shadowy aura on him, even faster than when he saw Lei Xiu.
With a puzzled frown, Lezhi picked up the furry ball that was clearly uneasy from its head and handed it to Lei Xiu beside her, asking him to look after it.
Seeing Lezhi frown, Qinglin's eyes flashed with unease. "Lezhi, do you sense something's wrong?"
Realizing her attitude might be misunderstood, Lezhi quickly shook her head and explained, "No, it's just a little strange..."
He felt that it was difficult to explain with words alone, and now Lezhi was more interested in the shadow on Aoki. The seedling that had been sleeping between his brows seemed to have also smelled the shadow's aura and had begun to stir, which made him a little excited as well.
This situation has only occurred when facing Lei Xiu so far. When it happened with Le Zhong, the seedlings hadn't grown too big yet, so there wasn't much of a commotion.
Judging from the seedlings' reaction, this shadowy figure is likely to be quite troublesome. However, if Lezhi can resolve the situation successfully, the benefits to the seedlings will be substantial.
Thinking of this, a strong fighting spirit flashed in Lezhi's eyes, and he was ready to go, showing no fear whatsoever.
