Chapter 80 Sisters' Breakup
Chapter 80 Sisters' Breakup
Zhao Chen had just finished his seclusion and was preparing to stroll through the market when Fei Dan suddenly arrived with a message.
"Your Majesty, something has happened to the angel nebula you asked me to keep an eye on." Fei Dan stood before Zhao Chen, respectfully clasping his hands in greeting. Seeing Zhao Chen raise his head, Fei Dan continued, "I heard that Liang Bing was imprisoned because she had a falling out with Keisha."
I wonder what this has to do with the Super God Academy? They were also implicated and expelled from Angel City.
Zhao Chen remained silent for a while. Although he knew this day would come sooner or later, he was helpless to stop it.
In the original story, Keisha and Liang Bing eventually broke up due to their differing ideals of order and freedom; but now, in his own timeline, this timeline has not changed because of his existence.
Keisha championed justice and order, while Liangbing believed in decadent freedom. One craved order, the other freedom. Thirty thousand years of sisterly affection became as thin as paper before this rift.
"Thinking of how Liang Bing's betrayal in the story severely injured Keisha, ultimately destroying their sisterly bond, Zhao Chen no longer hesitated."
"Pass down the order: all matters concerning the Demon Cave will be discussed jointly by the Ten Demon Generals. Bai Ze will temporarily assume the command." "I'm going to the Angel Nebula."
Yes. Although Fei Dan was puzzled by the king's reaction, he did not ask why.
Zhao Chen wasn't worried about Bai Ze causing any trouble at the Demon Cave. While he was afraid of creating a bunch of fools like Soton and hadn't dared to use the Hetu Luoshu to influence the minds of the Ten Demon Generals, Bai Ze had always considered Zhao Chen his subordinate. Even after a long time apart, this hadn't changed at all upon their reunion.
As for the other nine demon generals, they are all loyal old subordinates of Zhao Chen. And in terms of ability, Bai Ze, as the foremost strategist of the demon realm, oversees many affairs on Gela Star. He is the only one who can keep up with Zhao Chen's thinking, so there's no need to elaborate further.
Zhao Chen retrieved the Hetu into his sea of consciousness, while the Luoshu remained in the demon's lair to continue operating the Zhou Tian Xing Dou Grand Array. Although the effect was somewhat diminished, there was no other way; the Hetu could not be lost.
Zhao Chen rode the Golden Crow's escape light, drawing a dark golden arc in the night sky before gradually disappearing into the northern star field.
The situation in Angel Nebula was more tense than Zhao Chen had anticipated.
Liang Bing is imprisoned deep within Tiancheng, accused of spreading decadent freedom and undermining the righteous order. Keisha publicly declares that she will be imprisoned for a hundred years, but those in the know understand that as long as Liang Bing does not abandon her theories, this period will be indefinite.
The instructors and students of the Super God Academy were ordered to leave the Angel Nebula within a specified period. Kieran had already taken the academy's core equipment and left first, while the remaining equipment and personnel were also systematically evacuating to the Deno system. The gates of Angel City slowly closed behind them, marking the end of tens of thousands of years of cooperation.
Zhao Chen concealed himself outside of Merlo Star, silently probing the palace with his divine sense. Keisha was in the main hall, in the laboratory behind He Xi. Liang Bing's aura was sealed off by layers of restrictions in a secluded palace, so she was unharmed.
Zhao Chen waited quietly for three days.
One night, an overwhelming fleet of demons poured out of the wormhole and headed straight for the Celestial Court of Merlo. Kunsa was a civilization that Liang Bing had secretly developed in her early years. With the power of angels and unparalleled charm, she conquered the natives of Kunsa without firing a single shot and established a demon civilization there.
Keisha called them "demons," but they called themselves demons.
When the Demon Civilization's fleet appeared from the void, Zhao Chen's divine sense was the first to detect them—thousands of black warships, their hulls painted with demonic emblems.
Each warship was equipped with a dark energy shield and an antimatter cannon. Zhao Chen didn't know where Liang Bing had obtained this technology and equipment, but his intuition told him that it must be related to Karl.
The demon fleet did not directly attack the defenses of the Celestial Court of Merlo. Instead, it chose a more ruthless tactic: splitting its forces into three groups to simultaneously attack three directions surrounding the Celestial Court of Merlo.
Keisha's attention was diverted. She led He Xiruoning and flew in three directions to defend against the attack.
Taking advantage of the moment when the Heavenly Court was vulnerable, Zhao Chen made his move. Using invisibility and activating the Golden Crow Escape Technique, he directly passed through the defenses of the Heavenly Court of Merlo and landed deep within the Heavenly City.
Bang! The cell door shattered with a single palm strike from Zhao Chen. A glimpse revealed Liang Bing sitting on the bed, her black hair cascading over her shoulders, a cup of tea in her hand. Looking up at Zhao Chen, a flicker of surprise crossed Liang Bing's eyes.
"Brother-in-law, what are you doing here?"
"Come with me."
"Alright," Liang Bing agreed without hesitation. She stood up and followed Zhao Chen. Zhao Chen led her through the many palaces of the Merlo Heavenly Court, encountering several patrolling angels along the way. However, Zhao Chen used a freezing spell to immobilize them all.
When Zhao Chen led Liang Bing out of the back gate of the Merlo Heavenly Court, the demon fleet had already broken through the outer defenses.
Zhao Chen turned to Liang Bing and said, "Take your people and leave. Don't anger your sister." Liang Bing nodded, spread her wings, and flew towards the fleet. Zhao Chen quietly followed behind.
Upon seeing Liang Bing appear on the battlefield, Keisha rushed over.
Silver-white wings of light shot in from afar, and Keisha hovered in front of Liang Bing, her golden eyes as calm as ever. "Liang Bing, you can't escape."
Liang Bing looked at Keisha, who was blocking her way, and felt somewhat annoyed. "Sis, for your husband's sake, I don't want to fight you today."
"When your demon legions attacked the Heavenly Court of Merlo, they never said they didn't want to fight."
Liang Bing opened her mouth, unsure what to say. Zhao Chen appeared behind her, but didn't speak up. This was a matter between the sisters; he shouldn't interfere.
Keisha bypassed Liang Bing and fixed her gaze on Zhao Chen. A complex emotion flickered in her golden eyes, but she quickly regained her composure. "Are you going to stop me too?"
Zhao Chen shook his head. "I won't stop you. But I don't want to see either of you get hurt."
Keisha seemed to have thought of something and suddenly fell silent. The demon fleet and angel guard in the distance also noticed the commotion and stood facing each other, neither firing again.
At this moment, Liang Bing suddenly spoke, breaking the silence. "Sister, I won't go back with you. If you won't let me go, then let's fight."
Keisha looked at her, silvery-white sword energy slowly gathering in her hand. At that moment, Zhao Chen walked to Keisha's side and blocked her way. "Liang Bing, you go first."
Liang Bing and Keisha were both stunned for a moment.
"Hurry up." Seeing that Liang Bing didn't react, Zhao Chen repeated, "The demon fleet has already broken through the defenses. If you leave now, the angels won't be able to catch up. If you delay any longer, once He Xi and Ruo Ning arrive, you won't be able to leave."
Liang Bing glanced at Keisha. Seeing that Keisha did not stop her, she turned and flew towards the flagship.
Zhao Chen retreated to Keisha's side, hovering alongside her. They watched as the demon fleet began to retreat, black warships disappearing one after another into the wormhole, leaving the starry sky empty once more.
Liang Bing stood on the bridge of the warship, watching Zhao Chen and Keisha's figures slowly recede into the distance, and couldn't help but feel a little down.
Keisha sheathed her sword, turned, and flew back to the Heavenly Court of Merlo. Zhao Chen followed closely behind.
When they were alone in the main hall, Keisha turned to look at Zhao Chen.
Why did you let her go?
"Because she is your own sister."
"She led the demon army to attack the Heavenly Court of Merlo."
"I believe she won't kill you. She just doesn't want to be locked up." Zhao Chen walked up to her, looked down at her, and said, "If you kill her today, you'll regret it tomorrow. I don't want you to regret it."
Seeing that Keisha remained silent, Zhao Chen reached out and took her hand in his palm. Keisha did not pull away.
"You can't stop Liang Bing from doing what she wants. She'll walk the path she chooses, even if you lock her up for ten thousand years. Let her go."
Keisha withdrew her hand. "Go away, leave me alone."
Zhao Chen looked at her. "Alright. A message came from the Demon Cave: the Void Realm has invaded. I have to go back."
Take good care of yourself, and please give my regards to He Xi.
Seeing that Keisha remained silent, Zhao Chen didn't say anything more and turned to leave. As he reached the palace entrance, Keisha's voice suddenly came from behind him. "Zhao Chen."
"Yes," Zhao Chen turned around.
"You be careful too."
"Understood." Zhao Chen nodded, turned, and flew north across the night sky. Bai Ze was waiting for him on Ge La Star.
After leaving Angel City, Kieran instructed Karl to take the core equipment of the Super God Academy and retreat to the Denor system. He, however, chose to travel instead.
Karl took the Great Clock from Kieran. It was a gift from Kieran. Kieran, having chosen to travel far and wide, entrusted the Great Clock to his best student, hoping he would use time to prove his theories. Without the Great Clock, Kieran vanished from the universe, and may never again appear in the known universe.
After settling things at the Super God Academy, Karl took the Great Clock to the Styx Galaxy in the south of the universe. His plan was simple: to establish his own power, gather the scattered remnants of the Beast Corps after the Form War, and use them as his core force to await the right opportunity.
The Taotie tribe was the first to seek refuge with him. The Giant Wolf tribe followed closely behind. Then, wave after wave of defeated beast-like civilizations poured into the Styx Galaxy from all corners of the universe, willingly becoming Karl's servants.
But not all beasts were willing to submit to Karl. Some chose another path—fleeing north.
The demon lairs there never discriminate against other races; everyone who comes to seek refuge is considered part of the lairs. Cultivation techniques are publicly available, and the markets are open; anyone with strength can find a place there.
When Zhao Chen returned to the demon's lair, Bai Ze had already compiled all the intelligence on the invasion of the Void Realm.
This isn't the first time Void creatures have invaded. For thousands of years, Void creatures have roamed the border regions, but this time is different.
Bai Ze's report made Zhao Chen frown. The Void Realm had opened, unleashing a full-scale invasion. Ying Zhao's First Main Star had suffered at least three waves of intense attacks, and the Third Star Region, where Fei Lian was located, had already seen Void Creatures at the Nascent Soul stage, and their numbers were still increasing.
Zhao Chen stood by the window, gazing at the starry sky above. The array patterns generated by the operation of the Zhou Tian Star Array flowed continuously among the 365 main stars, a dark golden net covering the entire northern star region. Outside the array was endless void, and inside were hundreds of millions of demons.
Zhao Chen took out the Hetu Luoshu and began to deduce the invasion patterns of the Void Realm. The Hetu Luoshu's computing power was fully activated, and the pages flipped rapidly.
The invasion from the Void Realm was not random, but purposeful. Their target was the core of the grand formation. Each of the 365 main stars was a hub for the conversion of spiritual energy. Destroying one would reduce the efficiency of the grand formation by one point.
Zhao Chen retrieved the Hetu and Luoshu.
"Bai Ze, pass down the order. Enter the highest state of combat readiness. The ten demon generals shall each guard their own formation, and the three hundred and sixty-five demon generals shall be stationed on their respective stars. No one shall leave their post without authorization."
"Yes, sir." Bai Ze accepted the order and left.
Zhao Chen returned to his bedroom and once again probed the Hetu Luoshu with his divine sense. The invasion patterns of the Void Realm, the defensive deployment of the Demon Cave, and the troop allocation plans—a series of pieces of information surfaced in Zhao Chen's mind.
The invasion of the Void Realm is a threat that all known civilizations in the universe must confront. Zhao Chen may not care about any sense of justice or order, nor about ultimate fear, but these Void beings dare to kill his people, seize his territory, and steal his stellar power.
He made a note of this debt.
