Chapter 66: Thanks for the reminder
Chapter 66: Thanks for the reminder
Before I even reached the study, a loud bang was heard.
As soon as Lin Rusi stepped across the threshold, a cup was thrown at her.
She was startled and frowned as she stared at the steaming tea that had spread wildly across the ground.
It's clear how angry Lin Le was.
Lin Rusi frowned slightly, deciding to proceed with caution.
She quickly stepped forward and bowed to Lin Lezheng, saying, "Father."
Lin Ruqin stood to one side, lowered her voice, and whispered a reminder: "Sister, you must quickly apologize to Father. You must not be so stubborn anymore."
Lin Rusi glanced at Lin Ruqin, curled her lips, and sneered, "Thank you for reminding me, sister."
"But I didn't do anything wrong, why should I apologize?"
Lin Le was trembling with anger, pointing at Lin Rusi and growling, "You still won't admit it!"
"Your sister has already told me!"
He strode up to Lin Rusi, pointed at her, and said angrily, "You've really gone too far now!"
"They actually dared to offend the Third Prince!"
"You're becoming more and more lawless!"
Lin Rusi lowered her head and explained in a humble yet assertive manner, "Father, there is a misunderstanding."
"My sister made accusations without knowing the full story."
"Sister, why do you say that?"
Lin Ruqin counted on her fingers, never expecting Lin Rusi to turn the tables and start framing her!
She quickly lowered her head and explained to Lin Lezheng, "Father, I definitely saw my sister offend the Third Prince and anger him."
"If the Third Prince blames us, our whole family will be in deep trouble."
While explaining, she didn't forget to criticize Lin Rusi.
"Little sister, Father has always loved you dearly."
"But you can't just do whatever you want because of your father's favor!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than Lin Rusi added, "My sister keeps saying I've made a mistake."
"But I haven't said anything yet, so why are you so sure I'm the one who did something wrong?"
"My sister wasn't with me and the Third Prince at the time. Could it be that she has ears that can hear everything and knows why the Third Prince and I argued?"
Lin Rusi's words left Lin Ruqin speechless.
She lowered her head and said nothing more.
Lin Lezheng angrily said, "I'd like to see how you plan to explain this!"
He sat down aggressively, his fiery eyes fixed on Lin Rusi.
Lin Rusi raised her head, meeting Lin Le's eyes burning with fierce anger, and began to explain.
"Father, today's events can be traced back to a few days ago."
"Father, do you still remember the day I spent the whole night with Prince Jinglie?"
Lin Lezheng nodded. "I remember, but what's the connection between today's events and that day's?"
Lin Rusi said solemnly, "It has a great deal to do with it."
"To tell you the truth, Father, my sister took me boating that day."
"After her sister got ashore, she walked to the side. When her daughter was about to follow, the Third Prince stopped her."
"There were very few tourists at the lake, so the Third Prince began to have wicked thoughts about his daughter."
As Lin Rusi recounted her story, her face paled and her expression became increasingly embarrassed.
"That third prince looks respectable, but he's worse than a beast."
"To protect herself, the daughter kicked him into the lake."
"It was only thanks to the timely arrival of the Prince and my sister that my daughter was not bullied by that Third Prince."
Lin Rusi sniffled, wiping away her tears with a look of utter grievance. "The prince even helped my daughter reprimand the third prince a couple of times."
"I thought the Third Prince had realized his mistake, but I didn't expect him to still remember the grudge between him and my daughter that day. Today, when he ran into my daughter, he started nitpicking and trying to teach her a lesson."
"The Third Prince also wanted to take advantage of her unpreparedness to attack his daughter, but fortunately, Wanqi, who was by his daughter's side, was a martial arts expert, which prevented him from succeeding."
"My daughter was furious, so she mentioned the prince's name. The third prince dared not argue with her, and left in anger."
After recounting what had happened, Lin Rusi was in tears, looking very pitiful.
Lin Lezheng's face visibly darkened.
He exclaimed indignantly, "This Third Prince is such a beast!"
"How dare you bully you at the Lin residence!"
Lin Le was furious after learning the reason for the incident. "You did the right thing!"
"Rusi, never keep anything to yourself again."
Lin Rusi's tears fell even harder. "Father, I didn't want you and Mother to worry!"
"Waaah, I'll remember this from now on. I'll never hide it from Daddy and Mommy again, so that others won't misunderstand."
She looked at Lin Ruqin with tears in her eyes, "Really, sister?"
Lin Ruqin pinched her knuckles, which were hidden under her sleeve, and bit her lower lip.
He wanted to trip up Lin Rusi, but she resolved the situation so easily. How outrageous!
"Ruqin, do you remember what your sister said?"
"Don't come to me with things you haven't investigated thoroughly in the future."
"I almost misunderstood your sister today!"
Lin Ruqin could only suppress her anger and force a smile as she nodded, "Father is right."
"Father still cares about me the most."
Lin Rusi wiped away her tears and threw herself into Lin Lezheng's arms. "Father, I won't act like that anymore. You can rest assured."
Lin Le smiled and said, "Okay."
He suddenly thought of getting up and asked Lin Rusi to leave the study first.
Lin Ruqin also wanted to turn around and leave, but Lin Lezheng called her back.
Lin Ruqin stood frozen in place like a stone, not daring to move an inch.
After closing the study door, Lin Le's expression became more serious.
"Ruqin, why did you deliberately hide the fact that your sister left with Prince Jinglie last time?"
“I have already asked King Jinglie. You were there when she left with King Jinglie.”
"That means you knew that your sister left him."
Lin Lezheng did not want to assume the worst about Lin Ruqin.
However, this wasn't the first or second time she had deliberately concealed the truth and shifted the blame onto Lin Rusi.
Lin Ruqin bit her lip tightly, remaining silent.
Lin Le rubbed his temples, looking a bit annoyed, and waved his hand. "Alright, I'll just give you a heads-up today."
"Don't do this kind of thing again. You can go now."
"Thank you, Father."
After Lin Ruqin left the room, her expression turned icy cold.
She clenched her fists, her eyes turning bloodshot.
Lin Rusi has become too clever; there's no way to trip her up with simple methods.
It seems that dealing with Lin Rusi requires a long-term plan.
If she continues to act rashly like this, Lin Lezheng will probably start to dislike her.
She had finally managed to get Lin Lezheng's attention, and she absolutely couldn't let all her efforts go to waste!
She repeatedly caused trouble for Lin Rusi, who had become more vigilant.
Lin Ruqin curled her lips into a mocking smile.
"Since I can't do anything to Lin Rusi, I guess I'll have to target Si Yu then."
Her expression grew even more sinister. "Lin Rusi, you forced me to do this!"
