Chapter 107 [Aurora Raven]
Chapter 107 [Aurora Raven]
boom!
After confronting the monster, I fell to the ground and it took me a while to calm down.
The radiance surrounding the tree has long since lost its power; now it is no different from the other trees around me.
I feel like throwing up.
Nausea and stomach acid kept rising into my throat, but I forced myself to endure the sensations.
Even for someone like me who witnessed the massacre firsthand, seeing the memories of those people is still a form of mental torture.
Although I have no attachment to them, I am still a human being after all.
"call……"
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.
As I was calming myself, I felt something within me. Not physical, but something intimately connected to me.
'It should be there.'

Looking at the status window, I can now see a new section. All attributes have increased, probably because of the trial I just went through.
The bond system has also appeared.
As the name suggests, bondage means a being closely connected to oneself. In essence, I am its master.
That's how it's described in the game, and that's one of the reasons I came to this dungeon in the first place.

'very good.'
Looking at the panel in front of me, I thought to myself.
Now that I have this bond, I can make up for my lack of reconnaissance skills, which is something I've been thinking about.
Aurora Crow
When I called the name in my mind, I subconsciously used my magic, and a raven materialized in front of me.
It was entirely black, without any other color, and its purple eyes resembled mine. As the panel explained, this raven had no physical form, but was composed of pure magic.
Flutter! Flutter! Flutter!
I told the crow to move, and it began to flap its wings and move like any other bird. If there was anything different, it was that my magic power was slowly being depleted with each of its movements.
However, the consumption wasn't high, probably because my mana attribute is relatively high.
In the game, the higher your mana attribute, the greater the output effect when using the same amount of mana. This also means that items or synergies like this raven will be affected.
'However, I still can't use it for long periods of time.'
I thought this as I felt the connection between me and the crow gradually weaken as the distance increased.
The greater the distance between us, the more mana we consume.
This makes sense because magic loses its normal energy during transmission, which weakens the signal. Although magic is an intangible entity, it is still energy, and the transmission process causes frictional loss.
Let's test visual sharing.
As I thought about this, I suddenly felt the world around me change. The view changed from tree trunks to treetops.
'good.'
Seeing things from a crow's perspective is quite a unique experience. However, perhaps due to the different focal point of the eye, it feels a bit strange.
Because it's a crow, its eyesight is excellent. I don't know how it compares to an eagle's, but it's good enough to see every detail clearly.
"Perception and insight are also playing a role."
When I saw my own information, I realized that I could use my skills even when sharing vision with crows.
That's great, because crows don't have good eyesight in the dark, but with my special ability, I can see clearly easily.
"That's enough."
Although I wanted to explore further, I was already very mentally exhausted from walking around.
Looking back now, I still don't know who that creature was.
In the game, the dungeons of Eldrin Spire are different from other types of dungeons. This dungeon isn't really a dungeon; it's more like a broken ruin.
Shattered ruins are warps created by very powerful and high-ranking beings, perhaps relics that wish to leave their mark on this world. Or they were created when they were hunted.
In both scenarios, the dungeon is more like a living test than a typical dungeon. The space is constantly being tested and altered, although the initial portions remain largely the same.
In the game, this dungeon is the first broken ruin that can be entered.
The first enemy players encounter upon entering the area will be ghouls, and this will not change.
That's why I prepared holy water before coming here.
However, the difficulty of the test lies not in how you deal with monsters, but in the test of your [willpower] attribute.
Since willpower is a hidden attribute and difficult to improve in the game, most players won't choose to clear this dungeon. After all, improving willpower requires character training.
Training means doing the same things over and over again, and the same applies when controlling a character. As a player, most people don't do that.
If the first part tests willpower, the second part tests concentration.
This isn't a named attribute, but it's a test where players must keep moving forward while hearing countless eerie sounds.
The final stage will present players with numerous different scenarios and pose a question to them.
Can you endure the suffering of this world?
This is a simple question, but the test results will vary depending on the given answer.
But, as I expected, reality is different from the game. The answer I gave wasn't any of the ones in the game. At the time, I just said what I wanted to say, and that's how I got what I wanted.
Bonded partners.
Although I didn't get anything that could make money, I did get something that could improve my abilities, which is enough to prove that my efforts have paid off, and that's enough.
With this thought in mind, I stood up and started walking back.
"I think it's too early to look for runes now."
This mountain range contains many runes, but the problem is that each rune has actually been consumed by monsters, and the only way to retrieve them is by killing them.
“That’s impossible for me right now.”
Even the lowest level among them is close to tier 6 or 7. Now, just to find them, the distance I need to travel and the monsters I encounter along the way are enough to kill me.
Now, all I can do is go back to the academy...
......
As Morse stumbled out of the cave, away from the nightmarish scene and the terrifying monster, the figure made of darkness chuckled softly.
"Hahaha...it's been a long time..."
The eerie laughter echoed through the cave, carrying a hint of malicious pleasure.
“What an interesting soul,” it whispered, its voice like a cold whisper that echoed in the air.
That shadowy presence lingered deep within the cave, its form indistinct and mysterious.
It seems to be both part of the cave and separate from it, an embodiment of darkness and suffering.
Then, the cave began to slowly collapse.
"It seems this is my fate."
Watching itself gradually crumble, the figure muttered to itself.
"I really want to see what he will bring in the future, but I can only leave it to other 'me's' to confirm."
It is nothing more than a fragment left behind by its real body before it left this world.
"But he's one of those guys, isn't he? Considering those sun-worshipping heretics, it seems their counterparts have also come to this world."
The figure felt a pang of regret. It had once followed a powerful figure, a so-called ally in the realm of light.
It was once very powerful, but it abandoned its form, allowing it to gradually wither and break apart.
"I never imagined that I would follow that bastard and end up being abandoned like this," it muttered to itself, its tone tinged with bitterness.
In its final moments, the figure twisted and deformed, transforming into a three-legged crow.
