Chapter 338 The Grand Finale
Chapter 338 The Grand Finale
Song Yafei's soft words warmed me like I had never felt before.
"Go home early tonight? There's a surprise!" she said mysteriously.
I nodded and said, "Okay."
“Oh, right,” she remembered something else, “I’m going to pick up my follow-up report later and also get a dog for Xiao Xiaotian. He’s always wanted a puppy to keep him company.”
"Really? He told me the other day that he wanted a little sister," I said with a smile.
"Is this project progressing well?" She nudged me lightly with her elbow, a mischievous grin on her face, but her expression remained completely neutral.
“Dad said Xiaoxiaotian is recovering well; he can eat, sleep, and play around.”
"It's so nice to see him so energetic!" We smiled at each other and breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's good that the child is healthy. I don't have to worry about him all the time anymore," I thought. Then my phone rang. It was Assistant Luo.
"Mr. Zhang! Great news!" He was incredibly excited on the other end of the phone.
"The feedback from the domestic market is phenomenal! Everyone's saying it's great! Our channels are urging us to place more orders, and our phones are ringing off the hook! Next month's revenue is sure to hit a new high!"
This kid is really excited.
I hummed in agreement, feeling much more relaxed, and a smile unconsciously appeared on my face. "Not bad."
"Stay calm, don't get carried away," I reminded him.
"What about on the international front? Have our old rivals pulled any tricks?"
"That's good news too!" His voice rose even higher. "The market feedback in Europe is also excellent. We just signed a major agency agreement; they're very strong!"
"An old rival? We caught them completely off guard!"
"Well done!"
"Let's get together this weekend, invite the core members of the project team, and people from the Su Group, and have a celebration banquet."
"Alright! I promise I'll arrange everything perfectly!"
After hanging up the phone, I continued my meeting, while Yafei left early, saying she was going to pick up Xiaotian's "new family member".
When I got home in the evening, the aroma of food wafted over.
Little Tian ran over from the living room, holding a red rope in his hand. At the other end of the rope was a white Bichon Frise, tilting its head and looking at me curiously with its big, dark eyes.
"Dad, look! This is a gift from Mom! Its name is Tuan Tuan!"
That little white puppy looks to be only two months old; it's very cute.
"Do you like it?" I bent down and patted the puppy's head.
"I love it! I love it so much! I named it Tuantuan!" Xiao Xiaotian said proudly, as if he had accomplished something amazing.
"Tuantuan?" I repeated.
He nodded. "Hmm, that's a good name, quite fitting. Just like you, a little chubby ball."
"Dad!" Little Tian protested, puffing out his cheeks.
Looking at my son's earnest little face, I couldn't help but smile.
He held Tuantuan carefully, afraid of dropping her, and muttered something to himself, probably introducing the home to Tuantuan.
I'm wondering if he would be even happier if we really had a younger sister?
"You're back," Yafei said, coming out of the kitchen. "You know what? I went for my checkup today and the doctor said I'm pregnant, just two months along!"
"Really?" I asked, half-believing.
"Of course! Didn't I tell you there was a surprise?!"
"That's great!" I hugged her tightly, and just as I was about to lift her up, I quickly put her down for fear of upsetting the baby.
"I'm going to be a dad again!" I almost jumped up.
Little Tian heard our conversation and quickly ran over to touch Yafei's belly, exclaiming, "Mommy, I really have a little sister!"
"Maybe it's a younger brother!" Song Yafei said, and we all laughed...
The celebration banquet was held over the weekend. Song Yafei and I arrived first, and soon after, Assistant Luo arrived with several key members of the project team. Representatives from Su's Investment also arrived, including the same Representative Chen from last time.
The room suddenly became lively.
At the dinner table, Assistant Luo was the absolute star, excitedly recounting the market successes and effortlessly citing various data. The project team's young men listened with shining eyes, raising their glasses repeatedly.
Just as the atmosphere was reaching its peak, Mr. Chen, the representative from the Su family, suddenly put down his chopsticks.
He cleared his throat, his expression quite serious.
Seeing him like this, everyone's voices gradually quieted down, and all their eyes fell on him.
“Zhang Tian,” he said, looking at me with a seriousness that I couldn’t quite put into words.
"Actually, besides official business, I also have a personal matter to discuss with you today."
"I'm here... to help Chairman Su find her relatives."
"Recognizing relatives?" My mind went blank, and I almost dropped the cup in my hand.
“Yes… I found your hair during the meeting that day.” Representative Chen paused for a moment, then took out a stack of documents from his briefcase and handed them to me with both hands.
"Here are some documents; you can take a look." His voice was steady, but his fingers trembled slightly.
"Based on clues our family has been investigating for years, key evidence we have recently obtained, and... DNA comparison results."
“You are the grandson of our Chairman Su who went missing unexpectedly back then…”
My mind went blank.
There's so much information here, I can't process it all at once.
Song Yafei sat next to me, clearly not expecting this to happen either; her eyes were full of shock and disbelief.
I lowered my head and mechanically flipped through the documents.
Inside were photos—some faded old photos—and photocopies of documents, all looking quite old. Finally, there was a DNA test report… stamped with a bright red seal. I flipped directly to the last page; the conclusion line clearly stated: "Supports a kinship relationship between the submitted samples."
Representative Chen began to explain in detail how my mother disappeared unexpectedly, how the Su family searched for her for decades, how much manpower and resources they used, and how they finally found clues about me recently through some small clues, such as some information about me in the orphanage and some old things left by my mother...
He spoke clearly and logically, and the chain of evidence sounded...flawless.
"So...that's how it is." My mother, who died young and whose memory of me is hazy, was actually a member of the Su family? The Su family, which holds a pivotal position in the domestic business world?
I forced a smile and tentatively asked:
"Then... Chairman Su is my maternal grandfather?"
The solemn expression on Representative Chen's face vanished instantly, replaced by a broad smile, tinged with a relieved excitement. "Of course! The Chairman and the Old Madam have been waiting for this day for far too long..."
"You decide on the meeting time..."
I nodded in agreement.
On a sunny afternoon, I took Xiaoxiaotian and Yafei to see their maternal grandparents whom they hadn't seen in a long time. For the next month, I took over the Su family business.
Yafei's belly grew bigger every day, and amidst the anticipation of her family, this little baby became our new hope...
