Chapter 307 Turning the Tables

Chapter 307 Turning the Tables

However, the pen requisition book they used was hung on the other side of the shelf, which happened to be within the Eternal Restriction. Every day at noon, the requisition record was restored to the record of the 13th. So when they entered the warehouse on the morning of the 14th, they only saw that there were fewer pens, but the record had not been updated at all.

However, she naturally couldn't tell Manager Jin these things; she figured he wouldn't believe her anyway. After listening to him, Geng Miaowan looked at him with sympathy and said, "It's really not just ordinary frustration to suddenly encounter something like this."

“Who says otherwise? This has never happened before, yet it happened at this exact moment.” Manager Jin said, shaking his head. He then looked hopefully at Xu Ruwen, who was walking silently beside him, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. He asked in a low voice, “Miss Geng, does your friend really have the ability to find out the reason?”

Geng Miaowan glanced at him sideways, "Don't you already know whether I have the ability or not?"

"Yes, yes." Manager Jin chuckled ingratiatingly. Although he had personally experienced it twice, he still felt uneasy. He felt it was too risky to so readily trust two strangers, but he really had no other choice at the moment.

As soon as the two entered the warehouse, they sensed an atmosphere completely different from the night, as if something was missing from the air. Geng Miaowan and Xu Ruwen exchanged a glance and walked towards the shelf where pens were kept.

Manager Jin stood to the side, watching the two of them thoroughly search every nook and cranny of the shelves. Although he didn't know what they were looking for, he had heard that people with mysterious abilities always did things in strange and unusual ways, and he couldn't help but secretly pray that these two were truly capable.

Geng Miaowan and Xu Ruwen were not as calm as they appeared. Although they seemed to be silently and seriously searching for clues, they were actually exchanging thoughts in their minds.

"It looks no different here than it does at night."

Geng Miaowan paused her work and sighed almost imperceptibly, "Yes, I really don't know what's so strange about this."

"Let's look again. Maybe we missed something." Although he said that, Xu Ruwen himself didn't believe he could find anything else.

The force that prevented the shelf from being affected by the spatial restriction was completely untraceable. Even when they had Luan Hao activate his senses, he couldn't find anything unusual.

This shelf seems to exist independently outside this space. Yet it truly exists within this space.

They always felt that some kind of force separated it from the eternal restriction, allowing it to break free of the restriction, but they could not find that mysterious force. As time went on, even they themselves began to doubt their original idea.

"Tell me, what if we set up an altar here and performed some kind of ritual? Would that be effective?"

Xu Ruwen chuckled, "Are you kidding me, or are you kidding yourself?"

“You’re all just kidding…” Geng Miaowan said this with a hint of helplessness. She couldn’t help but feel helpless when she couldn’t find any clues.

Finally, the two discussed moving the shelf to take a look, and Manager Jin naturally had no objection. Soon, he found two people to move the shelf. Suddenly, the floor was empty, with only the marks left by the shelf's long-term placement. Nothing else was there.

Xu Ruwen stepped forward and stomped on the ground twice, then looked down at the ground. "Could that strange thing be underground?"

Those words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Geng Miaowan's head. She couldn't help but look down at the ground. If she were really underground, she really wouldn't know what to do.

However, the situation on the ground was clear at a glance, with only four marks of the same size and shape. Suddenly, an inconspicuous little pit caught her attention on the smooth marble floor. Such a pit, the size of a peanut, should have been quite noticeable, but because it was one of the four marks, its color made it difficult to see without careful observation.

"What's this?" She crouched down and picked at the small pit with her finger. She then looked at the other marks nearby; they were all smooth and even, only a darker color than the surrounding marble. But this one was a real pit. How could this be?

Is it just a coincidence?

At this moment, Xu Ruwen also noticed her unusual behavior. He squatted down beside her and observed her carefully.

"It looks like something dented it," Xu Ruwen commented casually after examining it. "But... what could be so hard as to dent marble like this?"

Geng Miaowan thought so too. She turned her head and glanced at the shelf over there, but there was nothing wrong with the four corners. She pushed it and it didn't wobble. She ordered someone to move the shelf to the side again, but then she found another small dent on the ground.

Her eyes suddenly lit up. "Manager Jin, you don't mind if we turn this shelf over and take a look, do you?"

"Please."

Manager Jin had no other choice at the moment, so naturally she would do whatever she said.

The items on the shelves were quickly cleared out, and with the help of several people, the goods were laid on the ground, exposing the four legs of the shelves to everyone's view.

Geng Miaowan quickly went over and saw a grayish-white stone embedded in the foot of one of the shelves.

"What is this?" Xu Ruwen asked, though he already had his suspicions. This thing looked strangely familiar; he couldn't pretend he didn't recognize it. He reached out to try and pry it off to see if it was really as he suspected, but no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn't budge.

Why don't you give it a try?

Xu Ruwen withdrew his hand and said to Geng Miaowan, who stepped forward and lightly touched the stone with her fingers. She saw something flash across the surface of the stone and then disappear without a trace.

Surprisingly, the stone fell into her palm on its own. It was like an infant finally finding its mother's embrace, nestled there motionless.

The instant the stone fell, Geng Miaowan felt a strong energy fluctuation in the space. When she realized something was wrong, it was as if a whirlwind suddenly rose around her, tightly enveloping her. She couldn't even open her eyes, and the intense pressure made it difficult to even breathe.

She called out to Xu Ruwen several times in her mind, but received no response.

A moment later, the intense energy around them dissipated, and Geng Miaowan slowly opened her eyes. (To be continued.)
