Chapter 203 Crisis
Chapter 203 Crisis
Just then, two dark figures suddenly appeared beside her. One of them grabbed her and pulled her back several steps, while the other used his weapon to block Haotian's Sky-Supporting Halberd from falling.
"No way, we just got back and we're already facing such a huge battle." It was Xu Ruwen who spoke, glancing at Geng Miaowan, whom he had pulled over. "Are you alright?"
Before Geng Miaowan could answer, Huangfu Aoran's surprised shout came from the other end, "No way, Luan Hao, what are you doing out here?"
"Luan Hao is out?" Xu Ruwen was also surprised and quickly looked in Huangfu Aoran's direction.
With long, slender eyebrows and a straight nose, the demon in front of him looked exactly like Luan Hao, except for its red eyes and inanimate paleness.
“He…” It’s no wonder that Xu Ruwen and Huangfu Aoran mistook him for someone else. If Geng Miaowan hadn’t known for certain that Luan Hao was sitting in her sea of consciousness, she would have definitely mistaken him for someone else at such a cursory glance.
Although Haotian looks exactly like Luan Hao, those familiar with Luan Hao can quickly distinguish the differences between them. Luan Hao is naturally aloof, always wearing an expression of "I won't provoke you unless you offend me." Haotian, on the other hand, exudes a fierce and savage aura. Not to mention his signature red eyes.
"Luan Hao?" Haotian murmured the name softly, as if it sounded familiar, as if it were engraved deep in his soul. "Who is Luan Hao?"
At this moment, Huangfu Aoran clearly could no longer see the difference. He sneered, "Call me Grandpa, and I'll tell you!"
Sometimes, Geng Miaowan felt that Huangfu Aoran must have suffered some kind of trauma in his childhood, because no matter who he met, he always hoped to be of a higher generation than others.
"Arrogant and ignorant brat!" With his crimson eyes filled with killing intent, Haotian charged at Huangfu Aoran with his Sky-Piercing Halberd. Huangfu Aoran was naturally not going to be outdone.
After pulling Geng Miaowan to a safe place, Xu Ruwen joined the battle. Qiu Pi and Yin Qianze followed suit. The endless stream of demon soldiers didn't throw them off balance. They always understood the principle of "capture the leader first," and even seeing the Green Mountain Sect disciples retreating steadily, they could only watch helplessly as they were slaughtered by the demon soldiers.
Just then, a loud commotion erupted behind Geng Miaowan. It turned out that disciples from two side peaks had arrived and immediately joined the battle.
The two side peaks are connected to the main peak by two iron suspension bridges, so it only takes about 15 minutes to get from the side peaks to the main peak.
Geng Miaowan glanced around the battlefield. The ground was littered with corpses, indistinguishable between demons and disciples of the Green Mountain Sect. Only a quarter of an hour had passed; it felt like an eternity.
After her initial reflection, she quickly joined the fray.
When the disciples of the Green Mountain Sect saw their reinforcements arrive, they all became invigorated, and their swords flashed with even greater power.
On the other side, Haotian was clearly struggling after facing four people, and his face was no longer as relaxed as before. This could be seen from his inability to pay attention to Geng Miaowan.
However, they couldn't corner him. Of the four, Huangfu Aoran, who hadn't recovered his cultivation, was essentially crippled; Xu Ruwen, though healthy, lacked sufficient cultivation; Yin Qianze, while more powerful than the other three, was already quite old and exhausted after fighting for so long; and Qiu Pi, though slightly stronger than Xu Ruwen and the crippled Huangfu Aoran, was powerless against the overwhelmingly powerful Haotian.
Judging from Haotian's performance, his strength should have only recently reached the Demon General realm, roughly equivalent to a human who has just completed their tribulation. Therefore, Geng Miaowan felt the prospects for this anti-demon team, which consisted entirely of the elderly, weak, and disabled, were bleak. If it weren't for Yin Qianze, an old man at the peak of his tribulation stage, holding them up, they would have already been defeated.
While dealing with them, Haotian searched for a way to break through.
Sure enough, the thing Geng Miaowan feared happened in no time. Haotian's Sky-Piercing Halberd flashed with a cold light. He charged towards Yin Qianze at incredible speed. Yin Qianze dodged to the side, her right hand quickly forming a hand seal and unleashing a spell.
Haotian seemed to have anticipated this move, a cold smile playing on his lips. He didn't dodge Yin Qianze's magic; with a flick of his wrist, the Sky-Piercing Halberd pierced Yin Qianze's body at an unimaginable angle. Yin Qianze groaned, staggering back a few steps before being caught by Geng Miaowan, who had been watching the commotion closely.
He spat out a mouthful of blood, turned to look at Geng Miaowan, gave her a grateful smile, and then headed back towards Haotian.
Geng Miaowan reached out and tried to pull him back, but failed. She could only watch his retreating figure with worry.
Because Yin Qianze was injured, it was as if a significant gap had appeared in his position, and Haotian slowly regained control. A short while later, Yin Qianze was once again slapped back by Haotian's palm, along with Xu Ruwen. His complexion was not good; he seemed to be struggling.
Yin Qianze's complexion was even worse, the ashen color mirroring the somewhat cloudy look in his eyes. He clutched the wound on his left chest inflicted by the halberd, breathing rapidly.
Behind him, the screams of Green Mountain Sect disciples echoed, causing him a sharp pain in his heart. It was clear that Huangfu Aoran and his group were about to be defeated. He knew that if they too fell, the Green Mountain Sect would be finished, its thousand-year-old foundation destroyed in an instant.
His gaze swept across the battlefield before him, the ground piled high with corpses, obscuring the bluestone paving stones. The fear that flashed across the faces of the Green Mountain Sect disciples as they faced death, those faces that were so vibrant just yesterday, now lay there cold and lifeless…
His eyes welled up with tears, and he murmured, "What a tragedy, it's all my fault..."
Now, Geng Miaowan was absolutely certain that he was the one who had contact with Haotian that night, but, "Why?"
She asked softly, and seeing his puzzled look, she continued, "That night, I saw Haotian in the woods. Why did you do that?" This was a question she couldn't understand.
"You actually saw it." It turned out that it wasn't his imagination that night; there really was someone else in the woods, and that person was none other than Geng Miaowan.
Yin Qianze's face showed no embarrassment at being caught, only regret, as if she had aged decades in an instant. Her voice, tinged with profound weariness, said, "What terrible things have I done..."
Suddenly, his gaze fell upon the main hall, which was well protected by the disciples. A protective membrane formed by spiritual energy gleamed with a cold, bluish light in the night. A glimmer of hope flashed in Yin Qianze's cloudy, grayish-white eyes. He grabbed Geng Miaowan's hand and exclaimed excitedly, "There's hope! There's hope!"
After saying that, he tried to stand up using the strength in his hands, but failed several times. (To be continued.)
